Local Information
-
The conference is located at the old monestary
(Benediktinerinnenabtei)
Frauenchiemsee,
which is an island in the
Chiemsee.
It is one of the most beautiful places in the German state Bavaria,
and in summertime it is crowded with tourists.
Another island in this lake is called
Herrenchiemsee.
It was the place, where the constitutional convention of Germany
took place in August 1948. The law came into effect
on 23. May 1949 for West Germany, and the Article 23 was used
for the reunification with East Germany in 1990.

You may use the airport of Salzburg (Austria)
or the airport of München (Germany).
From the airport you have to reach the main station
and then go by train to Prien (Chiemsee).
You can use the
[Reiseauskunft],
where for [Start] you may enter "Salzburg Airport Terminal" or
"München Flughafen Terminal" and for [Ziel]
you have to type "Prien a. Chiemsee Bahnhof".
In addition you have to give the date and the appropriate time.
Then press [->Suchen]
to get the information you want.
It will take approximately 1.5 hours to reach Prien from the airport.
-
From Prien take the ferry (Schiff) to Frauenchiemsee via Herreninsel.
Look at the timetable for summer.
The ferry port in Prien is about 1.5 km from the station. On foot,
just walk east along Seestraße, or there is a taxi rank at the station,
or there is a historical train (Chiemsee-Bahn) which has
a station just beside the
train station of Prien, see the first lines of the timetable.
Note, that the last ferry to Frauenchiemsee leaves at 19:30 from
Prien/Stock Hafen. (In case you need it:
there is a ferry at 21:00 from Gstadt.)
The convent is by far the largest collection of buildings on the very small
island, and you can see it from the ferry port.
-
There is a highway exit "Bernau am Chiemsee".
There is no way to take your car on the Island. You have to park it
in Prien or Gstadt.
